Benefits for Fisheries
At Community Catch, we believe small-scale fisheries deserve fair access to markets and recognition of their sustainable practices. Our certification Standard is tailored to the realities of small-scale fisheries—offering an affordable, accessible, and credible pathway to market inclusion, designed to be straightforward and supportive.
Fisheries which have completed a Community Catch evaluation can, depending on the results of the evaluation, obtain recognition in Community Catch through two pathways:
1
Certification
The fishery meets all Minimum and Target Requirements and receives a certification valid for 5 years. Certified fisheries are recognised on the Community Catch Website.
2
Community Catch Fishery Improvement Project (CCFIP)
Fisheries which meet all Minimum Requirements, but not all Target Requirements, are recognised as CCFIPs. Fisheries will follow an Action Plan to address the areas of improvement over suitable timescales. CCFIP fisheries are recognised on the Community Catch website, and (if they wish) can also be automatically recognised on the FisheryProgress website.
