About
Control Union (UK) is proud to collaborate with the Community Catch programme and fully supports its mission to empower small-scale fisheries through inclusive, community-led sustainability initiatives. As an independent certification body accredited by Assurance Services International (ASI) for both the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) programmes, Control Union brings more than a decade of experience in fisheries and aquaculture certification. Over the years, we have worked with fisheries of all sizes, from artisanal coastal operations to larger commercial enterprises, helping them navigate the often-complex path toward sustainability.
Expertise
Our expertise spans the full spectrum of certification services, including pre-assessments and gap analyses, full MSC and ASC assessments, Fishery Improvement Projects, and verification under the MSC’s fisheries improver programme. We also conduct chain of custody audits to ensure traceability and compliance throughout the supply chain, safeguarding the integrity of certified products. Beyond environmental standards, Control Union also work on social compliance programmes such as RFVS and FISH, enabling us to address worker welfare and ethical sourcing alongside ecological goals. With a global network and deep technical knowledge, we work closely with producers, processors, and retailers to promote sustainable practices that balance environmental responsibility with social accountability.
