SeaBright Solutions
Description
I am a sole proprietorship consultancy with deep experience both designing and auditing standards, as well as stewarding fishery clients of all scales through assessment and improvement processes. Please find my bio below.
The founder of SeaBright Solutions, Sian works at the intersection of science, markets, and policy, translating emerging technical and frontier issues in ocean research, into user-focused, operational solutions for seafood clients. Sian has consistently sought-out inclusive opportunities with bright change-makers in the public and private sectors who value innovation, the ability to drive impact at scale, while also respecting equity. Sian draws on her dual background in technical fisheries and aquaculture science, and quality assurance to improve marine systems broadly with a demonstrable track record of thought leadership behind successful initiatives in the Sustainable Seafood Movement. She has more than two decades of practitioner experience working in the field to reform fisheries and aquaculture systems in 20+ national jurisdictions.
Sian has directed fisheries and markets engagement at FishWise, the Waitt Institute, and led the Seafood group at SCS Global Services. She has served on both the Aquaculture Stewardship Council Technical Advisory Group (2008-2018) and the Marine Stewardship Council Stakeholder Council (2012-2015) and the newly formed Impact & Testing Expert Group. Sian supported Fair Trade USA in their design of a Capture Fisheries Standard, built all assurance tools for the standard and was an invited reviewer for the most recent version of the standard. She built SeaChoice, as a national sustainable seafood program for Canada and has also provided consulting to philanthropic funders, a number of WWF national offices, Pew Charitable Trusts, UNDP the CITES Secretariat, among others.
